What do skeletons, bouncy balls, and red cabbages have in common? They’re all part of the new House of Science Wairarapa Te Whare Pūtaiao o Wairarapa boxes making their way into schools across the Wairarapa!
Science education tends to be expensive - it needs special training and resources that can be a real challenge for schools to access. House of Science NZ aims to change that by providing a unique resource delivery system, meaning schools in the area share the resources and don't need to buy their own.
Last night REAP attended the launch of the programme's official launch at The Offering Greytown, and it was a real treat - the experiments were so good, the adults couldn't help but play (and learn!). Kia kaha to Amanda Taylor, the local arm's general manager, who got the programme off to a flying start; and to all of the volunteers who restock and redistribute the blue boxes.
