Permaculture gardens are self-regulating systems that are designed to work with nature. Everything is designed to work together in a healthy environment with minimal waste. Learn about food forests, companion planting and how to create your own fertiliser.
This course is great for beginners and intermediate gardeners.

Purpose of the Course:
This course will teach learners how to use permaculture design and self-regulating growing systems to design and care for their gardens.
This course is geared toward beginner and intermediate gardeners that wish to learn how to apply permaculture principles to their existing gardens
Week 1: What is permaculture?
– Introduction to the permaculture philosophy and ethics
– Touring the garden
-Understanding how zoning works
– Establishing your own permaculture zones
Week 2: Starting from the Ground Up
– Using Garden Waste to Make Healthy Soil
– Soil basics
– Composting
– Using waste to create healthy soil
– Creating your own fertilisers
Week 3: Using permaculture design within the garden
– Food forests
– Companion Planting
– Dynamic accumulators
– Small structures
Week 4: Caring for the Established Garden
– Maintenance
– Propagation techniques in the garden and the orchard
– Pruning
– Seed harvesting and saving for next year
