Learn the art of raranga and weave with harakeke. This course will teach you the basics along with the tikanga (protocol) around harvesting and weaving harakeke. By the end of the course learners will have woven a kono and a pikau (backpack). Nau mai, haere mai.

Course Tutor(s): Mel Reiri. Experienced weaver, holds a Bachelor of Māori Art (Maunga kura toi) accreditation.
Purpose of the Course: By the end of this course, participants will:

- Have a basic understanding of Te Reo Māori kupu associated with raranga (weaving harakeke).
- Have a good knowledge of how to harvest, prepare and weave with harakeke.
- Have a good understanding of tikanga (protocol) surrounding the use of harakeke and weaving.
- Have demonstrated basic raranga techniques by completing two projects – kono and pikau (backpack)
Pre-requisites (if any): no prior weaving knowledge needed – beginners welcome
