COURSE INFORMATION FOR …   TE REO MĀORI IN ACTION – WHAKAPAPA QUILTS AT FEATHERSTON – 7,8,9 February 2020 – #07257

Course Tutor(s):  Ron Te Kawa Education happens everywhere, not just at school. For Maungarongo “Ron” Te Kawa, learning is most powerful when it has meaning. An artist, storyteller and quilter, Ron has a special affinity for encouraging people to tell their own stories in visual, tactile form.

Purpose of the Course: “The quilts are a whānau learning resource – a gift for the next generation,” says Ron. “Most end up on a wall, telling their whānau story.”

  • Participants will learn about…
    • an understanding of Māori concepts, symbols, basic te reo Māori, and their meaning
    • telling their story, history and pepeha on a quilt

Other Information:  These popular workshops allow an opportunity to work at your own pace to develop an amazing tāonga for your whanau.

Pre-requisites (if any):  None

Participants Must Provide:  Please bring something for a shared lunch.  Once enrolled a list of what to bring will be sent to you.
