Have you written a poem that you’ve been meaning to publish somewhere? Do you have a poem that has been waiting for you to finish? Do you have a poem that needs some polishing?

Madeleine Slavick will work with people one-on-one with their poems on Wednesday afternoons, from 2-4 pm, starting on 19 August — just in time for National Poetry Day!

Sign up for your one-hour session – Tel 379 4080 or pop in and reserve your place.

This 15-week service is free-of-charge, thanks to Carterton Creative Communities.

Madeleine Slavick works as an editor and has authored several books of poetry, photography, and non-fiction, including Fifty Stories Fifty Images, Delicate Access, China Voices, and Round – Poems and Photographs of Asia. She lives in Carterton and has read her poetry in Canada, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Singapore, USA, and across Aotearoa. The Library welcomes her as the 2020 Poet-in-Residence.

Madeleine likes to bring poetry into public spaces — her poetry has lined a walking trail across an island, flown on a banner in a city park, and has been sung by a choir in a concert hall.  In Wairarapa, her poetry features in Carterton’s community garden, Masterton’s library square, and at Featherston’s Cafe Loco.

Her books are also available for loan from the Carterton Library – for you!
